The Bergeon 7033 Rodico Premium is a Swiss‑made professional cleaning putty, an indispensable tool for watchmakers, jewellers, and precision technicians. Its grey, viscous formulation is specially designed to remove excess oil, dust, fingerprints, and micro‑debris from delicate components such as watch movements, dials, hands, jewel bearings, and circuit boards. Compared to the classic green Rodico, the 7033 Premium formula is softer, more absorbent, and completely safe for modern high‑tech materials including silicon, carbon, and ceramics.
Genuine Swiss Quality: Factory‑produced by Bergeon Switzerland, brand new and original. Approved by leading watch brands including the Swatch Group.
Safe on Materials: Does not cause oxidation or leave chemical residue on cleaned objects, making it safe for delicate components.
High Absorption Power: Effectively removes excess oil, grease, dirt, dust, fingerprints, skin oils and metal debris.
Pick Up Tiny Parts: Acts as a handling aid; easily picks up and positions small or dropped components.
Removes Foreign Debris: Can be used to extract broken balance pivots from jewel bearings.
Leaves No Residue: When used correctly (light dabbing motion), it won‘t scratch or leave sticky residue on sensitive surfaces such as dials, hands, plates and circuit boards.
Compatible with High‑Tech Materials: Specially formulated to be safe for modern high‑tech materials including silicon, carbon, diamond and ceramics.
Single Stick Format: Standard size stick, easy to handle and store; can be cut into any desired shape with clean scissors.
Q1: Which is better – Bergeon 6033 (green) or 7033 (grey)?
A: 7033 Premium is the newer formulation. It is softer, more absorbent, and specifically safe for high‑tech materials such as silicon hairsprings, carbon fibre, and ceramic. 6033 (green) is the classic version, slightly harder and more durable for general cleaning. Many watchmakers keep both for different applications.
Q2: Can Rodico remove hardened, old lubricant?
A: No. Rodico works by physical absorption. It can only remove liquid or semi‑liquid oil residues. For hard, dried, or discoloured oil, you must first use a cleaning solvent (e.g., petroleum ether), then use Rodico only for final dusting.
Q3: What if a piece of Rodico breaks off and gets stuck inside a tiny crevice?
A: Do not try to poke it out aggressively. Use another clean, fresh piece of Rodico – press it gently against the stuck portion; the adhesion will pull it free.
Q4: Can I wash Rodico with water?
A: No. Rodico contains oil‑based components that water will destroy. If the surface becomes dirty, simply knead and fold it to expose fresh material. If dirt particles become permanently embedded, discard the piece and use a fresh one.
Q5: Will Rodico damage the printed numerals on a watch dial?
A: With normal use (light dabbing and stamping, never wiping), it will not damage printing. However, if a dial already has fragile lacquer or aged printing, repeated contact may cause slight discolouration. Test on an inconspicuous area of the case back before cleaning a vintage or delicate dial.
