Typical symptom: movement not running after battery replacement. Use a multimeter to measure coil resistance—normal range is between a few hundred and two thousand ohms. An “OL” reading (open circuit) or significant deviation indicates a faulty coil. The coil is exposed near the battery clip and can be easily scratched during battery replacement, causing failure.
